Summer School at BEU: INHA Professor Teaches Students Computer Algorithms

2026

Professor Kichang Kim from INHA University of the Republic of Korea is teaching the “Computer Algorithms” course to students of the BMU-INHA Dual Degree Program as part of the summer school organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Speaking about the importance of the course, Professor Kichang Kim noted that computer algorithms are one of the fundamental areas of computer science. The field focuses on developing algorithms to solve various problems and structuring solutions as a sequence of well-defined steps.

“In other words, when the steps of a properly designed algorithm are followed sequentially, it is possible to successfully solve the problem at hand. There are numerous problems in the modern world that require solutions. During the classes, students explore classical and widely used topics such as sorting, searching, graph algorithms, and string matching. Search problems are among the most important areas of computer science. Sorting algorithms are considered one of the key methods for improving the efficiency of search processes. Graph algorithms are widely applied to solving complex and multidimensional problems. String matching is also an important application area of search algorithms,” he said.

Professor Kichang Kim also shared his positive impressions of Baku:

“The weather here is wonderful. I really like the Caspian Sea, and the nature here is beautiful overall. The people are extremely friendly and hospitable. I also really enjoy the local cuisine. In short, I am very pleased to be in Azerbaijan and to have the opportunity to spend time here.”
