Professor Dongjun Won, an Electrical Engineering professor at INHA University, Republic of Korea, highlighted the importance of Automatic Control and the key methods used in the field during an Automatic Control course held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Professor Won noted that Automatic Control plays an important role in Electrical Engineering:
“Automatic Control is one of the fundamental subjects in Electrical Engineering. The field of control engineering is applied to robotics, automobiles, aerospace, and energy systems.”
The professor explained that differential equations are among the primary tools used in Automatic Control. He noted that these equations are used to determine the stability of control systems and to model physical systems. He also emphasized the importance of applying the Laplace transform to differential equations in order to study transfer functions and their characteristics.
Professor Won added that the course covers a number of methodologies for stability analysis, including PID controller design, the Routh stability criterion, and feedforward control.
Concluding his remarks, Professor Won emphasized that Automatic Control is an important and rapidly developing field and wished the students participating in the course continued success.
